DPR Promotes
Good Students
Are you a student (high school or college) that needs community hours?
Are you a teacher who has students that could benefit from working with a non profit organization?
DPR works with several local schools to help students achieve their necessary hours through our Good Student Volunteer Program.
Students must be enrolled in school with a grade “B” or higher average, be 13 years of age or older. DPR will work with each student to assist them in acquiring their hours along with providing educational material to be used at their schools. We will also provide a volunteer to assist any student with writing up required school assignments related to animal welfare.
We also offer educational sessions for the entire school. These sessions will include good ownership practices, puppy mill awareness, the plight of shelter animals and open discussions with the students.
DO YOU KNOW OF A STUDENT WHO COULD USE A PUPPY VISIT?
DPR also offers puppy visits for any student out on a long term medical or hardship leave. A DPR representative will visit the students home with a puppy (or puppies) provided written consent is acquired by all involved parties.
ATTENTION TEACHERS
Do you have a student that does not meet our Good Student Program but would benefit from the interaction with dogs and puppies? We can schedule 2 hours per week with an individual student who would benefit from spending time at one of the DPR representative’s home to interact with puppies or dogs in their care. We will spend the scheduled time with the student to demonstrate proper care and responsibility of animal care. We can help not only build confidence with their increased knowledge of pet care we also give them the opportunity to experience uncommitted love. (Age’s 8 through 18)
For further information on any of these programs please contact Dianne Hess at DelPupRescue@aol.com
Note – Written consent is required for any students under the age of 18. References are required for the Teacher Referral Program.
